Course Delivery and Assessment Methods
Delivery is conducted on campus and includes face to face teaching in classroom with tutorials and practicals delivered in Automotive Workshops, where students have the opportunity for hands on learning. Assessments comprise of written questions, observation of demonstrations, project work, report, documentation etc.
Pathways
Further training pathways from this qualification include AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis, or other relevant qualifications.
Course Structure
A total of 36 Units (20 core and 16 electives) must be completed and deemed competent to achieve the qualification AUR30616 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology.

Entry criteria
Vocational Training Institute (VTI) requires following criteria to be met:
Age and Academic Requirements
18 years or above at the time of course commencement. Successfully completed Australian year 12 or equivalent. English Requirements
Students, applying either off-shore or on-shore will require:
IELTS level of at least 5.5 or equivalent (test results must be no more than 2 years old) or the successful completion of at least General English Upper Intermediate or English for Academic Purposes Upper Intermediate level.
OR
Evidence that they have studied in English for at least five years in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom or United States.
OR
Evidence that, within two years of their application date, they have successfully completed in Australia a foundation course or a senior secondary certificate of education or a substantial part of a Certificate IV or higher level qualification, from the Australian Qualifications Framework.
OR
Applicants originating from students visa assessment levels 1 and 2 (countries) without the required IELTS score must undertake VTI’s English Placement Test. If there are concerns about the applicants’ English language proficiency, they will be required to undertake a suitable General English (ELICOS) or EAL program..
