Subclass 491 - Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa

Tasmanian Skilled Graduate Pathway (2022-23)

To be considered for this pathway you must meet all the criteria below.*

You may also need to possess one or more of the priority attributes listed for this pathway (refer to the table below).

  • You must have completed a course of study and obtained a letter of completion from a tertiary institution in Tasmania registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
  • You must have lived in the state for at least one calendar year from the commencement of your course and for the duration of your studies.
  • Your course of study must be AQF 5 (Diploma) or higher, or at least Certificate III related to an ANZSCO Major Group 3 or Group 4 occupation, and be listed on CRICOS with a duration of at least 40 weeks.
  • Your course must have been completed full-time and on-site in Tasmania.
  • You must currently be living in Tasmania and intend to continue living in Tasmania.

491 Tasmanian Business Operator Pathway priority attributes
GOLD
Working in a critical role (at least past 3 months)
GREEN
Currently employed for at least 6 months TOSOL-listed role related to skills assessment
Employed in Tasmania for more than 2 years in skilled role (ANZSCO 1-3) related to skills assessment
If a PhD candidate, have completed 2 years of PhD in Tasmania
Employed in Tasmania for at least 3 months in area of skills assessment or Tasmanian study
Operated Tasmanian business for at least 6 months which is directly related to skills assessment or area of study
Job-offer related to your skill assessment or Tasmanian study with medium or large* Tasmanian business that has been operating in Tasmania for more than 5 years
*A medium to large business is one with at least 20 employees (e.g. Deloitte, Taswater)
ORANGE
Employed in Tasmania for at least the last 6 weeks in the same industry as your skills assessment or Tasmanian study
Employed in Tasmania for at least the last 3 months in an ANZSCO 1-3 role but not related to your skills assessment
If employed in ANZSCO 4-5 role, qualification related to this role (minimum Certificate III, not including online courses or qualifications gained on the basis of Recognition of Prior Learning)
Evidence of job interviews in Tasmania related to skills assessment or study with (at least 2 well-established businesses that have been operating in Tasmania for at least 3 years)
Completed an in-course work placement of at least 400 hours (e.g. nursing, teaching, medicine, social work)
Tasmanian study related to occupation on critical roles list
Commenced PhD after completing undergraduate study in Tasmania
No other Australian residence or study
Lived in Tasmania for over 4 years
Proficient / Superior English (or passport country exemption)
Dependant employed in skilled role (ANZSCO 1-3) or running a business for the past 6 months
Dependant completed Tasmanian study - minimum AQF 6
Dependant has lived in Tasmania for at least 6 months
Close family living in Tasmania
